Band

Hi, my name is Jimmy Neighbors.

I am the Band Director for The Catholic School of St. Eugene.

Our band program is offered to students in the 4th through 8th grades. The instruments available to play for the beginners are flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and percussion (snare drum and concert bells). After the beginning year, the option to move to bass clarinet, saxophone, euphonium, or tuba is also a possibility.

We perform twice a year in a combined band setting with six other metro private schools, once at our Christmas concert and again in the spring at the PParts festival. In addition, we also have several opportunities to play during Mass and at some school functions like Fine Arts Night in January. We are really blessed to have the ability to rehearse in small, more individualized classes and at the same time have the experience of performing with a large fifty plus person band.

There is a yearly fee to be in band of $250.00 and you are responsible for getting the instrument for your child. (Compared to the cost of taking private lessons, it is very reasonable!)

Most students start band in the 4th grade, but all are welcome! Students who begin after 4th grade may be required to take additional private lessons to catch up with the other students.
