Our children are our future and our responsibilty.
Parents, teachers, community members - we all share in the great privilege of raising young people to be who God created them to be. We are given the opportunity to see the world anew in their eyes. To let the simplicity and beauty of love shine through the mundane and the difficult. As Christian disciples we are called to nurture and guide children on the path that Jesus asks us to walk, with Him and in Him. Our collective job is to help them get to heaven.
Along the path, we inevitably encounter stumbling blocks and opportunities. With the tremendous growth of our early childhood program over time, St. Eugene has maxed out our small group and classroom meeting spaces. This presents us with an incredible opportunity to look to the future, prioritize needs and take action so that together we can confidently answer Christ's command to let the children come to Him.
As it turns out, sharing the love of Christ in word and deed not only helps children grow in faith and reason, but it draws us closer to the divine too.
New Early Childhood Center - A dedicated Early Childhood Center will open up new spots in pre-k and kindergarten. Designed with safety and a nurturing environment in mind, the facility will be built on our western boundary along Greystone Avenue. It will include six classrooms, a multipurpose area for indoor recess and lunch, space for outdoor learning and play, small group rooms for individualized instruction, and a staff work space that will double as a storm shelter for 120.
Refreshed Meeting Spaces - Relocating early childhood programs to a new building will allow us to refresh and make available the meeting rooms along the main parish hallway. Because of space constraints, we cannot currently fill the requests for small groups to gather for Bible studies, sacramental preparation, fellowship, outreach, childcare while parents study, and more. Providing for small groups to meet during the day is a critical step to increasing the vibrancy of our parish community and living out our shared mission to help each other grow in faith.
St. Eugene is flourishing in many ways, but we need more space to continue to form parishioners of all ages - from the youngest among us to those who helped lay the first brick 64 years ago.
We are excited about the future of this dynamic Catholic community and thank you for your willingness to learn how you might help. This next step is essential for all of us growing together in Christ.
Thanks to generous families like yours, St. Eugene has secured more than $4.2 million in cash and pledges toward this effort. This includes outstanding pledges from our pre-pandemic effort as well as recent new and extended commitments.
Now we must dig deeper to reach our project cost of about $6 million.
Fr. Jim, Fr. Jerome and the Campaign Steering Committee are actively meeting with parents and parishioners to ask for gifts to the campaign to raise the additional $1.8 million needed to move forward with this important project. Please consider a sacrificial, multi-year commitment over five years—beginning now or at the completion of your current pledge. Monthly gifts of $500, $250, $100 and $50 will go a long way toward making this a reality.
Please prayerfully consider how you can be part of revitalizing our space to give the Lord more room to work within and among us as One Church Growing Together.
Gifts can be made online (below) or by completing and returning a pledge card. As you are able, please consider making an initial payment toward your pledge to help us gather the necessary amount in cash to move forward as soon as possible.
